Knitting 2

Am trying to knit a shawl for myself so I surfed the web and found this for light wrap shawls

1 pair BERNAT-Aero straight knitting needles No. 5 (Canadian Needles No. 9) OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES THAT WI LL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE = 2 complete pattern sts should measure 3 ¼ inches, 8 rows = 1 inch

PATTERN STITCH

Row 1: K 3, y o, * K 3, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, K 3, y o, K 1, y o, repeat from * to last 12 sts, K 3, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, K 3, y o, K 3.

Rows 2, 4 and 6: K 2, P to last 2 sts, K 2.

Row 3: K 4, y o, * K 2, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, K 2, y o, K 3, y o, repeat from * to last 11 sts, K 2, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, K 2, y o, K 4.

Row 5: K 5, y o, * K 1, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, K 1, y o, K 5, y o, repeat from * to last 10 sts, K 1, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, K 1, y o, K 5.

Row 7: K 6, y o, * sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, y o, K 7, y o, repeat from * to last 9 sts, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, y o, K 6.

Row 8: Repeat Row 2.

Repeat these 8 rows for pattern stitch.

Cast on 135 sts.

K 4 rows (2 ridges) in garter st.

Work even in pattern st until piece measures 60 inches.

K 3 rows in garter st. Bind off as if to K.

FINISHING: FRINGE: Cut strands of yarn 18 inches long. Knot 4 strands in first and then every 4 th st across each short end. Trim ends. Steam lightly.
